About the American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena

What is the AA-EVP?

The American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena (AA-EVP) is a nonprofit educational association that is dedicated to the support of people who are interested in or who are studying Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) and Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC).  This web site offers examples, techniques and concepts concerning Phenomena.

Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) concerns unexpected voices found in recording media.  It is a form of after death communication. ITC is a newer term that includes all of the ways these unexpected voices and images are collected through technology, including EVP.  Of the many hypotheses designed to explain these phenomena, the Survival Hypothesis has been found to be most effective in answering the evidence.

What is the Survival Hypothesis?

The Survival Hypothesis holds that we are nonphysical entities who are able to exist in the physical aspect of reality because of our physical body, but that when our physical body dies, we as Self, change our point of view to nonphysical reality.  In effect, we exist before and after our current lifetime.  The working hypothesis supported by AA-EVP is that these messages are, indeed, nonphysical in origin and that the Survival Hypothesis is essentially correct.  It is the goal of AA-EVP and its membership to find ways to improve the reception of these messages and to better understand their origin.

Who Becomes a Member

of the AA-EVP?

In practical terms, all AA-EVP members are experimenters seeking to understand the evidence before them.  Many have collected very evidential messages, and are therefore inclined to accept that they are receiving messages from outside of our physical reality.  Other members remain skeptical, but persist in experimentation with the sure knowledge that, whatever is causing the phenomena, it must be understood.

As you will see in this website, the AA-EVP is not about religion, but it is about sharing concepts, finding ways to use EVP and ITC to alleviate the grief of losing a loved one to the “Other Side” and finding better ways to communicate across the veil. The Articles section includes many articles that will help you get started and try different ways to work with these phenomena, while the Phenomena Examples section will give you an idea of what to look for in your own experiments.

The Association was founded in 1982 by Sarah Estep. It is currently directed by Tom and Lisa Butler and is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The AA-EVP membership includes people living in over twenty countries who record paranormal voices, pictures and information from friends and loved ones on the other side through audio recorders, telephones, television, computers and video recorders.

We invite you to explore this web site with an open mind. Find out about EVP and ITC. See what members have discovered. You will find sufficient information about EVP and ITC techniques to test these ideas for yourself. If you have a well-developed sense of curiosity, we know you will want to know more about these most fascinating phenomena.
